FINALLY! Story time: So about 18 months ago, I began searching my local forests for badgers. For photography but also from a conservation standpoint. Over those 18 months, I have found 5 separate setts, all inclusive of at least 15 entrances and all show signs of activity. So many ‘holiday homes’ I have now lost count. Latrines, snuffle pits and even a scratching post. I have monitored each sett with trail cameras and know that some will show during daylight hours. But, I have never been lucky to see them. I have followed every rule you are meant to but I’ve just never had the luck. Until this brief encounter earlier in the week - as I bailed due to the rain, I was walking back through the forest and noticed this badger up to my right. It genuinely scared me, we stared each other down for a few seconds but instead of running away, this badger came straight towards me and carried on past me. It was fleeting, but special. I opted to leave it be, the light faded quickly and this particular forest gives me the creeps. But, fingers crossed for a few more encounters before the winter nights draw in 🤞 #badger #wildlife #ukwildlife #conservation #ukbadgers #badgerbadgerbadger #wildlifephoto

The few days of sun have again passed and it's back to rain.

Despite getting soaked through, photographing in the rain is a lot of fun, with the droplets adding so much interest.

Otter in Morvern.

A wonderful day, I was able to be in the presence of this otter for a while, keeping myself low and only moving when it dunked under the water. Such a brilliant animal to observe.

I will forever struggle with capturing birds in flight and I definitely don't practice it enough. But I did manage to capture this puffin coming in to land against some very strong winds last week.
